Jake Zollie Harper
Jake Zollie Harper is a glassblower based in Southtown, San Antonio. Using traditional methodology as a jumping-off point, Harper explores the fundamental, organic modalities of his medium, creating work that blurs the division between art and craft. His objects often masquerade as functional, belying their formal complexity. Since 2008 he has exhibited widely, including such venues as Blue Star, Blue Star Lab, David Shelton Gallery, Flight Gallery, Justice Works and Lone Star Studios (San Antonio), and Box 13 (Houston). After apprenticing and traveling extensively to further his craft, in 2009, Harper established Zollie Glass Studio, which functions as a workspace, classroom and gallery.
Reagan Johns
Johns hails from a long lineage of carpenters, but his interest in Modernist architecture and furniture has expanded his personal practice into consultation, custom fabrication for artists and collectors, and exhibition design. So has his penchant for creating artwork outside of the realm of purely functional wood-based craft. |
